SOOG: writing instrumental relations

Beyond a classificatory label

SOOG develops a diagrammatic and graph-based account of the instrument. Materials, objects, agents, interactions and environments can be represented as connected entities rather than compressed into a single family name.

The dissertation’s working account builds on the organogram as a composite representation and extends it towards typed nodes, directed relations and computational schemas. The graph is intended to be readable, writable and traversable.

From representation to experiment

A prototype can be described through its constituent entities and the relations that make it operate. This supports comparison, recomposition and the formulation of new design questions.

SOOG forms the operational bridge between the Speculative Organological Model and instrument-making practice. The research explores how graph representations can inform design, simulation and fabrication. These are distinct stages that need their own evidence; a generated proposal does not by itself establish acoustic or artistic validity.
