Biome Consurgens

A concert as an environment

Biome Consurgens is conceived as a culminating artistic work in which an ensemble, its instrumental avatars and a responsive digital biome participate in the same musical situation.

The working design places phones on musicians’ stands to sense movement. A shared environment responds to those signals and returns sound to the performance space. Audience participation and a persistent record of events are part of the research direction.

From instruments to an ecology

Within the larger research, instruments developed through SOM and SOOG become participants in an environment. The question shifts from the behaviour of an individual object to the relations among performers, agents and a shared world.

Work in progress

The vault documents an initial musician-uplink experiment in June 2026, followed by proposed tests of multiple phones, persistence and audience participation. The full ensemble work and its final performance remain in development. The artistic intention and prototype documentation are presented here without treating the planned concert as a completed outcome.
