Speculative Organology investigates the invention of musical instruments as a compositional practice. An instrument is approached through its materials, objects, agents, interactions and environments: a set of relations that can be described, transformed and performed.

The research connects a conceptual model, SOM, with its diagrammatic and computational expression, SOOG, and a developing body of instruments and artistic works. The pages below introduce these strands and distinguish research intentions from completed outcomes.
